中国疾病预防控制中心性病艾滋病预防控制中心的前身为中国预防医学科学院所属卫生部艾滋病预防控制中心，成立于1998年7月，是经国务院批准的艾滋病预防控制专业机构。随着2002年1月23日中国预防医学科学院更名为中国疾病预防控制中心，卫生部艾滋病预防与控制中心更名为性病艾滋病预防控制中心（NCAIDS/STD），为中国疾病预防控制中心下属的一个二级单位，简称性艾中心。
