  • 盐城市博物馆始建于1961年，其时为盐城县博物馆，馆址先后设于盐城市工人文化宫、陆秀夫祠等处，隶属于原盐城县文教局，1979年原盐城县委新建博物馆楼于剧场路浠仓巷内，计800平方米。1983年，原盐城县撤销，成立盐城市，原县博物馆上升为市博物馆，直属市文化局领导。2000年，为改善博物馆展厅和库房条件，博物馆迁址于盐城市区建军西路118号新四军重建军部旧址——泰山庙内。
